Jernigan Ministry Need

As you may or may not know, I serve on the Board of Directors for Exodus International. Twice each year I travel to take part in this world-impacting ministry to those who struggle with unwanted same sex attraction at my own expense. That gathering is next week in Orlando, FL. I will also be ministering to men and women who head various Exodus-related ministries from around the nation at the Exodus Leadership Conference for two days immediately following the Board Meeting. The expenses for this trip will be around $1,000.00 (airfare, rental car, meals, etc.) Thankfully, I have dear friends in the Orlando area who provide lodging for me so there is no expense there.

Melinda and I work hard to provide for the work of ministry God has called us to. We make our living on CD sales (which have fallen dramatically and drastically over the past 5 years) and love offerings from ministry events. Due to the economy, even these have fallen drastically. We have cut back everything we know to cut back on but feel compelled to make an appeal to you for help. If you feel led and can help get me to Florida, thank you. If you cannot help financially, we ask you for your prayer covering and support.

By giving to this endeavor, you are actively taking part in helping men and women discover freedom in Christ. By giving to this mission effort, you are actively helping me encourage men and women who are directly on the front lines of leading others to freedom in this area. I could really use your help.

Blessings,

Dennis Jernigan

Time to Move On and Free MP3 of the Month

I wanted to tell you about a new ministry song from Father’s heart I posted last week. I feel it is for more than just me. I received the song TIME TO MOVE ON on
December 30, 2012. Here is what I wrote about receiving that song from Father’s heart:

As I was preparing for a time of worship to be held on New Year's Eve 2011, I began asking the Lord if He had a word for the night. I was impressed with this simple phrase: It's time to move on. As I meditated on those words, I thought of my own life and how I could not move on from my past until I believed God had forgiven me and had received that forgiveness - and forgave myself in the process. As I have grown in my understanding of God's love and forgiveness through the years, I have come to recognize other areas I have not let go of: times of feeling used, times of feeling betrayed, times of regretting decisions I had made, etc. In each case, the enemy wanted me to feel like a victim. To live as a victim is like being involved in a wreck and just never moving on from the wreckage. Because of my story, I receive lots of mail from people who seem stuck with the wreckage of their sin or in the wreckage of their wounds - just being stuck there. There comes a point where we must acknowledge our hurts or our failures or our betrayals, forgive and be forgiven and forgive ourselves...and move on with our lives! The enemy wins when we stay with the wreckage. To leave that wreckage is not to pretend it never happened. To leave the wreckage means we know Whose and who we are - and that we trust Him to use even the wrecks of life to bring forth something new that transports us from being the victim to being the victor. We have a choice. I choose to move on. This song is from Father's heart and I really do believe this is a word from His heart to mine...and possibly to yours!

You can watch it at http://dennisjernigan.com/blog/Time-to-Move-On-ministry-video.html

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 NASB

NEW BOOK AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK!!!!!               _Captured-Final-book-cover-art

The Chronicles of Bren: Captured is now available in print just in time for Christmas! Read on for more info on the book and special Christmas pricing.

The Chronicles of Bren: Captured is the beginning story in the saga of one boy’s journey to manhood. Young teen, Lee Jennings, bullied constantly by local boys, suddenly finds himself transported into a world of fantasy and adventure…and plunged into a whole new identity as the son of a king! How he traverses this new world and endures captivity at the hands of the realm’s resident evil lord is also the journey of self-discovery that will one day serve Lee in his adult life. Full of fantastic beings and magical creatures from this new dimension and wrought with many twists and turns, Captured is just the beginning for Lee Jennings…and is designed to be an adventurously entertaining ride for readers of all ages.

What others are saying about The Chronicles of Bren: Captured

“We have been reading the book out loud to each other and have really enjoyed the plot twists.  We really feel like this would make a great movie and reads almost like a script for one.”  -  J. & K.

“The story of Prince Leonolis captured me from the very beginning. From the humble beginnings of Lee, to the capitulation of Lucian’s plans for him, I found myself flying through the pages as if saddled to Leonolis’s fine black steed, Arolis. Dennis has given quite the adventures of a young man destined for more than royalty. It is not just the story of a boy coming of age, but conceals timeless truths about love, revenge, regret and redemption within a magical world filled with vivid characters that inhabit an enchanted, wild landscape. I started reading to be entertained and came away captivated, strengthened for my own journey ahead. I look forward to the next book in the series!” - H.B.

“An awesome entry into the world of Fantasy by newcomer (in writing in this genre, anyway) Dennis Jernigan. This book carried my heart and my imagination into the realms of startling suspense, fast-paced action and "where-did-that-come-from" plot twists. An excellent tale of good vs. evil and enough multi-creature battle scenes, spells and magic to keep the most ardent gamer enthralled. Reminiscent of Bryan Litfin's epic fantasy tales, "The Gift" and "The Sword", it will keep you on the edge of your seat, and stand as an epic tale, told well. As the action and the story wind down, you'll dream of the next adventure Dennis Jernigan has in store for us.”

FreedbyJC

“WOW! I couldn't put this story down! What an epic, beautiful, redemptive story. This story is one of love stronger than death, adventures that will thrill you, characters that make you angry, and ones that make you laugh. I LOVED the story and cannot WAIT for the second installment (PLEASE TELL ME THERE WILL BE ONE)! This is a book I will definitely recommend to anyone. This is a great story to read to children, but even adults would get a thrill out of it. I could go on, and on, but I will say that this is a MUST-READ and not a hard read. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!”
H.B., Sydney, Australia

Dennis Jernigan grew up in rural Oklahoma where he lived out many fantasies as a boy. Growing up on a farm and having a horse and many miles of countryside to be explored, Jernigan lived a boy’s dream. In addition to his many adventures on horseback, he often imagined himself growing up on the USS Enterprise as the son of Captain James T. Kirk. He credits this imaginary existence with his joy of writing fantasy. Many of his actual experiences in those early days have been reimagined in his first fantasy novel, The Chronicles of Bren: Captured.

Dennis makes his home in Oklahoma very near the area where these stories were first inspired. Along with his wife, Melinda, he has raised 9 children there and is currently working on the next book in this series, The Chronicles of Bren: Sacrifice.

Regularly $14.99 – Christmas price $11.99

$9.99 per book when purchasing 5 or more

Dennis will also be glad to sign each copy if requested!

A Word of Encouragement

Sometimes I go through periods where I wonder if my life and ministry are being effective for the Kingdom…and then the Lord blesses my life with letters such as the following:

Hello, my name is “M” and I go to LeTourneau University. For
probably ten years I had struggled with pornography, and I've battled it on
and off. When I arrived at LeTU I decided to start an accountability group
that meets weekly, because I knew secret sin was a big issue for young men
(actually all men, but my dorm hall specifically). The group meets once a
week and we typically have open discussions on scripture and confess and the
typical things that an accountability group would, and of course in the
first weeks we would admit the easy sins such as porn and lust. Then you
gave your testimony at LeTU. You being so honest and addressing the sin of
homosexuality like you did had quite an impact on our little group. The next
time we met we had an outpouring of honesty and confession, of thoughts of
homosexuality and incest, and addictions to alcohol and drugs, among other
things. We started to grow in size and people that I never would have
expected to come started showing up. We now have a group of students who,
wanting to present ourselves as a pure bride before God, are showing
complete honesty and confession. I want to thank you for sharing your
testimony and show you how God is using you to further His Kingdom.
God Bless

“M”

November 11th, 2011 I went to your concert and was mad at my mom when I found out it was a thing for gay people. But, she asked me to stay and I did. My life has been changed forever. Seeing others who felt the same as I did. People who had changed their ways for God. I didn't feel alone anymore. I felt hope for the first time in years. It was beautiful. Then you started singing, and ever single song you sang touched me in a special way. I couldn't believe the feelings I felt, when you would sing I specifically remember everything turning black and my focus was 100% on you. You showed me hope and God. I just had to talk to you, something kept on bugging me and I just didn't know what to say. I just did what I had to and gave you a hug. You might no have known this at all. But, I felt loved and cared about with that one hug. When you stood up, I knew I could trust you. I could see that you knew everything I felt at one point by just looking in your eyes. As weird as this all might sound, it's so true. I just want to thank you so much. I left my boyfriend today, and I’m taking steps toward help.

“BL”

Please know any support you can give – either through purchasing my materials or through financial gifts – is helping set the captive free.

Blessings,

Dennis Jernigan

Can You Help?

Here are two upcoming needs of my ministry:

• My vehicle – a 2004 Ford Expedition – has 252,000 miles and is dying a slow death. This is my mode of transportation to ministry opportunities within 500 miles of home. We will need something to replace it soon.

• I would like to record a new worship/ministry album in the coming months. We will need $20,000.00 to do so. Any help would be appreciated.

DJ Goes to Florida

Thirty Years Ago

On November 7, 1981, the Lord set me free and set me on a journey that, in many ways, is only just beginning. People initially told me freedom was not possible. Some told me I would fall back into that old life. But my reality proves otherwise. I feel more free than I ever dreamed possible. My identity becomes more and more clear to me with each passing year. No one gets to define me but my Father. My past does not define me. Temptations do not define me. Circumstances do not define me. I am who my Father says I am. I am not a recovering anything. I am a new creation. Everything I am and will be issues forth from that truth and that is my ultimate reality. Even as healthy as I have become in my identity, not a day goes by without me becoming even more intensely aware of how much I need Jesus. But my walk with Him is one of joy and abundant life born out of a living, breathing relationship.

God has used so many people to get me to where I am - even those who turned their back on me have been ultimately used of God to draw me closer to His heart.

I say ‘Thank you’ to all those who have fought with me through the years for my freedom. I did not do this alone. I am grateful for 2nd Chapter of Acts and Annie Herring. I am grateful to my wife for believing in me every step of the way. I thank God for my parents who have walked with me through this entire journey. I thank God for my children who have been catalysts to a deeper understanding of just how deep my Father’s love for me truly is. I am grateful for men like Jack Taylor who have helped me come to a deeper understanding of who I am in Christ. I am grateful for old friends who have walked with me every step of the way when others turned their backs – faithful friends like Reggie May, Steve Griffin, Danny Dunlap, and Tom Hopkins. I thank God for new friends like Matt and Jenn Taylor, Chuck Myers, and Stan Tyra.

I thank God for others He continues to use in my life, like Joe and Barbara Nunn, Bill and Carole Young (Carole is with Jesus now yet her encouragement will never be forgotten), Kathy Law, Troy Ambler, Don Burns, Dean and Jeanie Briggs, Don and Jane Wikoff, Wayne Fagala, Kevin Jones, Brad Henderson, Robin Smith, and Ray Jones.

Then there are heroes of my faith that inspire me to keep on fighting even if the church loses its saltiness and seeks to dim the light, people like Joe Dallas, Alan Chambers, Andy Comiskey, and my dear friend, Jimmy Jones. Thank you, Lord.

I am so grateful for my staff as well, without whom I could do nothing! Thank you for all these faithful years, Trish. Thank you, mom and dad, for going the extra mile. Thank you, Glory, for helping even when you no longer work for me. Thank you, Kristopher, for jumping into the deep end without any fear or trepidation. Thank you, Melinda, for laying down your life for me.

I will ever be grateful to the millions of people through the years who have supported me by purchasing or singing my music or by attending one of my ministry times. So many will never hear my name but will sing the songs long after I am gone. For this I am so grateful. Knowing unknown and countless people are behind me has been used of God to pour out His grace on me on more than one occasion. Thank you.

I know I have overlooked many that belong on this list, but my point in making it is to show how no one gains freedom or success on their own. God has used many to get me to where I am…and I feel I am only now just getting started!

Spend some time, after you read this, thinking about those you need to thank for being a part of the freedom and success you now enjoy - and then tell them how grateful you are. It’ll do your heart – and theirs – much good.

Blessings,

Daily Devotion - October 11, 2011

“…You are my joy and Lord I’d like to say…”

We often become so focused on the cares of life – busyness, chaos, fear, gaining security through money and things, etc. – that we lose our joy. Let your mind ponder this thought today: what if you lost every possession and everything you hold dear? Would anything change about the Lord? Reality is that when all is said and done our only real security – the real foundation of our life – is found in knowing Jesus intimately. If we lose our job or face poor health He is still our Provider and the Healer and Sustainer of our lives. If our life or security is threatened He is still our future in eternity and Protector of our soul. It stands to reason that if we want to eradicate fear we need to walk in assurance that whether we live or die we are the Lord’s. He is faithful and He is constant – even when the cares of life let us down. Let us practice putting our hope in God today and begin to prioritize our lives according to that reality…and watch peace and joy re place fear and anxiety.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

1 John 4:18 NASB
