As this song was being birthed today I received news that a dear friend had passed away. Carole Young was such an encourager to my life. It is hard to believe she is with Jesus. She and her husband, Bill, have ministered to me and my family for several years now. She was always knitting the most exquisite and beautiful socks for me and my family as well as always sending us little gifts throughout the year. Her knitting is directly referenced in this song as are the many blessings of her life and marriage that impressed and inspired me through the years. Facing the physical challenges she faced over the past couple of years with incredible faith and boundless joy, I could not help but being encouraged by her indomitable spirit. As I worked through the birth I could not help but think of my own marriage to Melinda and was deeply reminded of just how rich a man I am. My spiritual wealth transcends the worth of all the gold and silver on earth. As you sing this song, meditate on all God has done to bless your life - in spite of all the sin and circumstances...and see if you can catch a glimpse of heaven and look forward to the glory we will all one day experience just as Carole is this day.
