Twice each year, Melinda and I host a gathering in our home called the NGCI - Next Generation Creative Institute. At this gathering, we desire to provide and example of how a home can be used as a hospital for Jesus and a as a creative outlet for the Kingdom. As I was praying over the eventon Thursday (the event began the next day on Friday), one of my grandsons came over to spend some time with us. Being four years old, he always asks if I will take him on a Gator ride (a small John Deere farm vehicle, not a dangerous man-eating amphibian) and, of course, I usually say ‘yes’! As we drove around the farm I loved the fact he felt so welcome being with me. He felt free enough to ask me to take him to several different places of interest to him. As I pondered the words ‘you’re welcome here’ my thoughts turned to prayer over the people who would be attending the NGCI the next day. While we stopped at the big pond to allow my grandson to walk out onto the dock for a couple of minutes, I sang the opening lines into my trusty iPhone and the song was born! As soon as my grandson left, I went to the piano and worked out the entire song in about 10 minutes. Simple, yet profound, it is a song of welcome to any guests we have in our home…and verse two became a welcome to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to feel equally welcome in our home. I urge you to learn this simple song and consider using it as a family blessing in your own home.
