Lead Sheet: I Waste Nothing

A Song From Father’s Perspective
Received by Dennis Jernigan on July 25, 2012

Sometimes we get to the place where we simply do not know what to do...what the next step
is. Over the past few weeks, I have talked with several individuals and couples who are at that
very place in their lives. This has especially been brought home to me as two of my sons have
come to the place of decision and have had to be faced with that very question. Asa and Ezra just
graduated hight school and both enrolled in college. A week before they were to leave for school,
we realized we simply could not afford for them to go without going into great debt. I had to
break the news to them. They were both very disappointed but very open to whatever the Lord
would have for them...which I am grateful for. When we do not know what to do, it is a good
idea to remember God is in control and that this did not take Him by surprise. It is also wise to
take stock of what you DO have and ask the Lord for vision. Both did that...and both have come
to the conclusion that their true dreams and desires did not involve going to a traditional college.
One wants to go to audio engineering school and the other desires to go to Hillsong Leadership
College in Australia. Both will need $10,000+ to accomplish those goals...but they are both
willing to wait and work for them.
Another of my children simply needs direction and vision. This song is for that child, too.
Others I have been talking with about this very issue involve marital relationships, financial
hardships, and health scares. As I have sought the Lord for each of the above mentioned
situations, I heard this song from Father’s Heart. Like the boy who brought the Lord those fish
and small loaves of bread, we must bring Him what we have...even our heartaches, failures, and
brokenness...and trust Him to multiply the little and make it much.
The bottom line is this: God wastes nothing...if we bring it to Him in honesty and trust Him to be
Who He says He is.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans for a welfare and not for
calamity to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NASB

"Then I will make up to you for the years That the swarming locust has eaten...”
Joel 2:25a NASB

When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This palce is desolate and the
hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go to their villages and buy
food for themselves.”
But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!”
They said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
And He said, “Bring them to Me.”
Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and two fish, and
looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking loaves He gave them to the
disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds, and they all ate and were satisfied.
They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. There were
about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.
