Think Outside the Box

The moment we put God in a box, that is all we get of Him. Why would we ever want to limit Someone Who is utterly limitless? To limit God is to limit creativity! In the same regard, we need to take ourselves out of the boxes the enemy and his lies – and our wrong thinking – places us in. In Christ, you are a new creation. You are a child of the Most High God. You are a joint-heir with Christ. You are invited to partake of the feast of His presence and not relegated to sit beneath the table and settle for the crumbs of life. Who says you can’t write a movie score…or write a hit country song…or write the next great novel…or write a song that addresses something no one has thought to address before? You, as a child of God, must believe who He says you are and then receive it…and, most importantly, think, breathe, and live as a child of the King. It will greatly affect your ability to receive creatively from Father.

"With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God." Jesus

Be Ready:

I have received many songs just because I was prepared to receive. Psalm 45:1 NASB says, “My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” Are you prepared to receive at a moment’s notice? I carry a manuscript book with me to most places I travel. I carry a small recorder or iPhone with me when manuscript is impractical. I have received songs driving down the road (Let Freedom Ring, 2004 National Day of Prayer theme song), while leading a prayer time (You Are My All in All), and while simply going about my daily busyness (This Is My Destiny). My personal belief is that God is willing to pour out His creativity on us in any given moment. The question becomes ‘are we ready to receive it?’ How can He give something to someone who is not ready to receive it? Prepare yourself and be ready to receive…even in your sleep!

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
